Brother supports Mandela Day Sewathon with 'Colourful Threads' Dealer in Port Elizabeth
Tshwane, 30 July 2018 – The Colourful Threads Mandela Day Sewathon, in aid of the Zanethemba Charity, took place from 18- 22 July 2018 at the Greenacres Shopping Centre in Port Elizabeth.
The ‘Colourful Threads’ Mandela Day Sewathon invited members of the public to join in and sew for 67 minutes (or more!) for charity. The team from Colourful Threads prepared the sewing kits of patterns and cut out material to be used during the weekend sewing event. Participants could choose from teddies, burp cloths, track suits, bibs and cot quilts to sew up. The finished articles were then donated to the Zanethemba Children’s Home.
All the projects were made using Brother sewing machines and participants were able to create a personalised label for their item using the Brother labelling machines on hand. At the end of the weekend two Brother sewing machines (a GS3700 and a JA1400) were given away in a lucky draw as well as five H105 labelling machines.
Events of this nature are only successful due to the contributions of time, effort and goods from all the people and companies involved. We extend a big thank you to all involved in the ‘Colourful Threads’ Sewathon and are certain that the teddies and other items made will provide joy and warmth in the weeks to come.
